French news outlet Tsugi has reported that Guy-Manuel Homem-Christo, one-half of dynamic French duo Daft Punk, is currently working on a solo album somewhere in the western suburbs of Paris. No release date has been scheduled yet, but it is believed that the new release will feature several collaborations including one with Charlotte Gainsbourg.

Guy-Man is said to be working alone on this album without his partner in crime Thomas Bangalter. The two have not done much apart since they formed as a duo in the 90s, with a few exceptions. Guy-Man has produced for other artists including Sebastien Tellier’s ‘Sexuality’ and Kavinsky’s ‘Nightcall’ among others.

AlunaGeorge, Carl Craig, DJ Sneak, Greg Wilson, Boy & Bear and many more have been announced on the debut Lost Paradise lineup, a three-day camping festival taking place over New Year's Eve in the picturesque surrounds of NSW's Glenworth Valley.

Taking its cue from UK festivals such as Wilderness, Secret Garden Festival and Bestival, Lost Paradise is a five thousand capacity event bringing together live acts and DJs across three stages combined with culinary delights, crowd-funded art installations, Shambala spa treatments for the yogies, an open air cinema, paradise kids and action camps, and luxury glamping options. Heck you can even arrive there in a chopper, if that's your style. And the best part? It's only a 90 minute drive from Sydney's CBD.

The lineup boasts a cross section of international and local acts across house, techno, disco, electronica, pop, indie and rock, and includes the debut Australian performance of hotly tipped US duo Bob Moses. Still not convinced? The team behind this brand-spanking new festival is Finely Tuned, who are responsible for some of Australia's best parties including Agwa Yacht Club and Circoloco, as well as this year's first Lost Picnic event in Centennial Park.

Check out the promo video and full lineup below. Early bird tickets are on sale now for $259+BF (buy below). For all the nitty gritty on the upcoming event including camping and how to get there, head to the Lost Paradise website. And join the facebook page!

Freund der Familie
Alfa Remixes #2
Freund der Familie

6.5/10.0

If you happened to stop past Freund Der Familie’s inaugural release, then you’ll no doubt already have been captivated by the sounds of remixes which came courtesy of Christopher Rau and Roger Gerresen.

For the latest in their series, the label has adopted the same formula, namely by drafting in a host of new names to remix previous Freund Der Familie moments by the artists who share the same name as the label.

This is a label that does things the right way: everything from the artwork to the music to the packaging all adhere to the sort of precision you’d expect from two guys evidently keen on representing their wares in the best possible manner.

The first of the remixes comes from Marko Fuerstenberg, a dub techno proponent whose previous releases include stops at Brouqade and Ornaments, as well as Liebe*Detail and Echocord offshoots. With a CV like that, you might expect something classy here, and you wouldn’t be half-wrong, as he turns in a remix of 'Monday' that’s by a distance the most enticing of all the tracks on offer. Weighty slabs of wooden percussion stick out from the crowd, but it’s the grainy, sticky sounds and a steadfast refusal to compromise that help this one stand out for all the right reasons.

Achim’s 140 BPM Mix of 'Goldie Wilson’ actually isn’t as mental as it sounds on paper or, at least, it isn’t until the steely hues and the sense of unease engulfs the track around the three-quarters mark. More a tool than a track with which to light up the floor, it’ll surely only be let out of its cage on the most accepting of ‘floors.

Delve’s remix of ‘’Beyond Us’’ then closes the door on what’s another gripping piece of haunting and seductive house music. Sweeping synths rule the roost here, and when paired with some serene melodies and brash kicks, they make for a track that’s almost at odds with itself. A fine example of thoughtful house music from the off, this is an EP for the ages.

Monday (Marko Fuerstenberg Remix)
Goldie Wilson (Achim's 140 BPM Remix)

Eagles & Butterflies' Top Five Influential Tracks

Ibiza-based Eagles & Butterflies has been getting well deserved attention from all over recently. With tracks on labels like Bedrock, remixes from Dinky or Tone Of Arc on his own lauded imprint Spread Your Wings, Chris Barratt has been on an organic upward trajectory, with no signs of slowing.

But what initially made Chris to take the leap and become a musician? Here we countdown five tracks from across the musical spectrum that inspired Eagles & Butterflies.

 photo blackline2_zps37b5f386.jpg

1. Madonna - Like a prayer

I’m a huge fan of '80s music and this was easily my favourite era. I’m a massive Madonna fan also, and for me this is one of the best pop tracks ever made. I remember recording the video on MTV and watching it over and over again for years! Love all of Madonna’s music but this is the first one I as a child I really remember loving, and the video was insane also.

2. Michael Jackson - Who Is It

Michael is one of my favourite artists. I loved everything he did and this was my favourite. For me, Quincy Jones is the best producer of all time, and this record sounds a million times better than most of today's records still and it’s over 20 years old. The bass in it is still one of the best ever. In terms of being a producer, you can go to any Quincy record and just listen in awe. He and Jacko were the perfect team.

3. Daft Punk - Da Funk

This is the track that got me into electronic music. I absolutely worship those French rascals as do most people that work in electronic music. I remember hearing this and it just opened up a whole new world for me. The memories I have from growing up whenever I hear this track are insane. I remember seeing them live for the first time at Global Gathering it. It was literally life changing. They are the masters.

4. DJ Mehdi - Signatune (Thomas Bangalter Remix)

I love Ed Banger and the whole French sound. I was working as A&R for one of the DJs at Radio 1 at the time and remember being sent this on promo CD. I remember seeing the Ed Banger sticker on the envelop and almost had a heart attack as it was the first promo I ever got from them. I fell in love with the track after the first 5 seconds. Everything in the track is pure genius from Bangalter: the melody, the way the piano is chopped, the beats, arrangement, everything in this track is perfect.

5. Lana Del Rey - Video Games

Lana for me is my favourite current artist over the past 10 years. Her last two albums for me are both in my top five all time albums and are constantly on repeat. I remember hearing 'Video Games' for the first time in my friends studio who was working on a remix of it for the label and thinking, "Jesus, what the hell is this?" The track was so fresh and the production in it was so warm and dirty sounding at the same time, and her voice was out of this world. I love making this kind of music, and really, for me, her sound opened a whole new aspect of production for me.

Eagles & Butterflies will be releasing a downtempo mix on his label 'Spread Your Wings' later this month, which is made up of 8 of his own productions. And don't miss his Data Transmission show, which airs every Friday, 5pm BST here.

Before Boiler Room There Was MTV's The Grind

By now, we're all aware at how much digital technology has changed the rave experience.

Boiler Room and Be-At TV broadcast parties from around the globe straight to our laptops almost daily.

But back in '97, it wasn't so easy. If you wanted to experience the party, getting off the couch was actually a necessity. Unless you happened to catch MTV's The Grind, a dance show that aired from 1992 and 1997 replacing Club MTV (they still played actual music back then).

Coming at viewers straight from a pre-EDM Las Vegas is none other than Frankie Knuckles, who kicks things off with the Deep Dish remix of Sandy B.'s 'Make The World Go Round'.

Get ready for leather trousers, cut-off jean shorts, silver sunglasses glasses, and all the mid-'90s hair you can handle. Oh, and plenty of awkward dance moves to boot. Watch below.

Romania's Raresh is up next for illustrious fabric mix series.

As one third of the famed Romanian trio [a:rpia:r], who've been heavily endorsed by Ricardo Villalobos over the years, Raresh and his fellow Romanians Rhadoo and Pedro have come to international success in recent times.

Raresh himself has seen biannual pilgrimages to fabric since 2008, and now has been tapped to carry the torch for one of the most respected mix series in dance music for fabric 78.

Raresh said of the mix: “I made the mix at home with 2 CD players and turntables and everything came very naturally. For me is not so easy to make a mix at home without any crowd, but I imagined myself in full packed Room 1... I was a bit nervous but this added a bit of spice in the mix!”

The mix flutters with ethereal atmospherics and intricate percussion, pushed along by heavy low end bass, and employs some of the underground's most forward thinking producers.

Richie Hawtin Scores 1920s French Silent Film

Techno pioneer Richie Hawtin is making his foray into film with his newest project, scoring Dimitri Kirsanoff’s 1928 French silent film, ‘Brumes d’autonme.’ French Director Bertrand Bonello has posed the question, “What would we see differently if the music was different?” for his latest artistic endeavor inviting Hawtin and Dana Soh to score original compositions for the film.

Bonello explains: “Twelve minutes in black and white, dating from 1928. Some leaves in the sky, reflections in the water of a lake, a letter burning in a fireplace, a few drops of rain, Nadia Sibirskaya’s eyes full of tears. This film is a breathtaking beauty, an emotion that few words can explain. The original music is by Paul Devrand. What would we see differently if the music was different?”

Bonello has created his own musical adaptation for the film and will show it alongside the work of Hawtin, Soh, and Devrand in an exhibit at Paris’ Centre Pompidou on September 19th. Bonello, Ingrid Caven, and Richie Hawtin will perform.

Pulse Loves... Marco Faraone

Marco Faraone is one to watch out for.  He's had a productive and successful year as a regular at VIVa Warrior this summer in Ibiza, playing at some of the world's biggest nightclubs and festivals like Panorama Bar and Tomorrowland, and releasing on labels like Drumcode and Desolat.

We had a chance to catch up with Marco during his busy schedule to chat a bit about how his relationship with Steve Lawler and VIVa began, some highlights from his European tour, re-releasing his 'I Will Wait' album, some of his lesser known musical influences, and what he has in store for the fall.  Check out his all vinyl Pulse Loves... mix below and keep an eye out for details about his upcoming US tour.

Pulse Loves... VIVa MUSiC. You’ve been featured several times at VIVa Warriors at Sankeys in Ibiza this summer. How did your friendship with Steve Lawler begin? Well everything started really easily. I meet Steve personally for the first time in 2012 when we were playing together in Barcelona during Off Sonar Week at the East Ender festival on the same stage. I had been following him for years. When i started DJing he was already in the music scene and I played many of his productions. I still remember an amazing EP he released on R&S Records in 2009 called 'Kalimba' including an amazing remix by Shed. I actually just told him about that a few days ago in the car, when we were driving to Sankeys. I still play it sometimes. I have it on vinyl.

When we meet for the first time, I just recognized him and introduced myself, and I still remember that he was very surprised and gave me a lot of compliments about my music and what I was doing. In fact, before that moment I remember seeing his feedback a couple of times for my music and I think that he also played some of it before we met.

Then last year he asked me to make a remix for his own label, VIVa Music, and I was so honored by the request. I have such a big respect for Steve, what he's accomplished so far and what he is still doing. It's been such a pleasure to collaborate with him. He also invited me to play at his party for the Warriors. So, really I feel that our friendship started very naturally. We didn't meet because of a friend or someone in common. It was like when they say "being at the right place at the right moment."

This summer Steve's agent sent me a request to play at all VIVa Warriors on Sundays in August. I was performing in the basement for the closing set after him. During our dates in Ibiza we spent more time together. Steve is a really friendly and a humble person and this is probably one of the reasons he has been such a staple in our scene over the years. As you can imagine, I am thrilled with my season in Ibiza. Each Sunday was such an incredible experience, and hopefully I return next season.

Pulse Loves... Europe. You’ve also been touring a lot around the rest of Europe recently. What have been some of your highlights from this year? For sure, one of the best gigs I did was my set at Panorama Bar in Berlin. I really love that club. I also played in some other amazing places like Cafè d’anvers in Antwerp, Toffler in Rotterdam, Tenax in Florence, and Amnesia in Milan. There are so many good clubs in Europe.

I also performed in some amazing festivals like Tomorrowland and Extrema Outdoor in Belgium. Can’t forget Barrakud Festival too in Croatia, and of course the amazing gig I did at Watergate in Berlin with my Moon Harbour family. I feel that this year is the best one I have had so far in my career.

Pulse Loves... Festivals. We loved your set at Tomorrowland! What was it like playing at one of the world’s biggest festivals? It's something you can't describe in words. It was a magical experience for me as I have been a DJ for many years and working hard to grow and do good things. It was very satisfying achieving something that was a dream yesterday and suddenly it's come true. Like most producers, when I started I had so many dreams about the future and the things that I wanted to achieve and now some of them have come true.

I'll tell you something. A few years ago, I didn't expect to play outside of my hometown! Things just happen if you work hard for it. It gives me the motivation and energy to chase my dreams and keep working.

Pulse Loves... New Releases. So you recently re-released your album 'I WIll Wait' with new remixes. Can you please talk to us more about the recording and writing process behind the original album? How did you pick the remixes? The birth of this album comes from the desire to experiment, trying to find a way outside the lines, embodying different musical shades with new sounds and rhythms, and assembling these with the purpose of a new musical idea in which House, Techno, Pop, and Electronic live together in one atmosphere. The purpose of producing fourteen tracks is not only led by the need for a new musical project but it is the symbol of an important bit of life - sensations and emotions, sad days, departures and new arrivals, fun delights, waiting for a new experience, or for a new love...

The album represents fourteen tales of life. It included the collaboration of a special friend Piegaja, the young Tuscan man who walks together with me in this path through feelings, experiments, fun, trusts and new research, and so the obvious outcome has been a great synergy. It's been almost a year since the release.

It was presented in June 2013 at Panorama Bar in Berlin and was supported by important national and international DJs and producers like Laurent Garnier who are considered icons of the electronic music world. After this excellent outcome, I decided to release some remixes of the most requested and popular tracks, but for such an experimental album I chose very special remixers to surprise people. That’s why I selected amazing producers like Jay Haze, Locked Groove and Dana Ruh - they brought the remix somewhere very special.

Pulse Loves... Art. What was the inspiration behind the unique artwork and title? At the time I was producing it, I met my girlfriend which had a really good impact on my musical inspiration, and she was 99% of my album inspiration. I asked her if she wanted to design the cover representing something that connects love, nature, the time running and the figure of the woman as you can see on it. At the end, everybody in life is waiting or believes in something. Like me for example, I was waiting for love or the right moment, the right inspiration during my travels, something that would make me realize my dreams. That’s why the album is called 'I Will Wait.'

Pulse Loves... Touring. We hear you have an upcoming US tour this fall. Is there anything about it you can share with us? I’m really excited about it! It’s my first “real” tour in the States. I've played around in the past but not as a tour! The music scene in the USA is really growing and every major city seems to have a good party and a different vibe. I really can't wait to be back there.

I am really excited to play in Output/The Panther Room in Brooklyn as I have heard such amazing things. I'm also really looking forward to being back in Miami, this time at The FDR at Delano.

Pulse Loves... Bucket Lists. Are there any cities/venues you haven’t played yet that are high on your list? I would love to play in New York, and I'm really excited to play there. But like a lot of producers, I dream about playing in Detroit because this is the place where most of the underground Techno scene was born, and I am very curious about the vibe there.

Pulse Loves... Inspirations. What are your musical influences? Since I was a kid I have been listening to all kinds of music. My father was a radio DJ back in the 80’s so he was already collecting vinyl and music of many genres. For example, I was listening to legendary electronic producers like Jean Michel Jarred since I was ten years old, with a good background of listening experience as a result. This has also influenced my DJ sets; I play a little bit of everything, from deep to Techno to House and even great classics. Sometimes I even play old dubstep records and hip-hop. It's important to fit the right record in your set at the right time and surprise the audience with it.

Pulse Loves... Mixes. Tell us a bit about the exclusive mix you made. What was your approach? The set was done 100% vinyl. I wanted to do something special and experimental for Pulse Radio. I didn't want to do the same podcast with a computer - you know just pressing play and mixing. I like to think people appreciate to hear the "live mix," and maybe the error of the DJ which is somewhat hard to find with all the laptops around. Just to be clear, I have never refused the technology. I have tried to play with everything, Tractor, vinyl, CDs, external effects, etc, but at one point it's good to play that one way the excites you, and vinyl does that for me. As I say, "It's the risk of the direct, but it's real." It's not the "perfect" mix made with sync, but it is special.

I like to say that I'm really eclectic. I don't like to catalogue the music in one style and make the same wave. I always strive to do dynamic sets. It's important for DJs to fit the right record at the right moment, surprising the audience. I started DJing with hip-hop and drum ’n’ bass, listening to music like Run DMC and 2 Pac and that's how I learned to play with turntables.

I started DJing when was 14, with the influence from my father like I mentioned before. Now I’m 26, and through the years I evolved and grew up moving from that point to different styles of music but never forgetting my roots. I still have my background in mind, so even I can never anticipate my DJ sets... I always prefer to let the music speak more than just a few words.

Pulse Loves... The Future. What else do you have in store for the fall? Well I have a lot of upcoming solo projects. I have had so many releases in 2013, including my album and various EPs on lables like Desolat and Drumcode. I have my mind set on creating a new album soon, hopefully this winter. Since the begining of the year I have released a lot. For example, my track "Overvision" on the Desolat sampler, and the new EP out on a new vinyl only label "On Edge Society" called "EAtna" which included remixes by Trucante aka Audio Injection and Andre Kronet who are two of my favourite Techno producers at the moment.

I have a new remix for my friend Sven Tasnadi on Moon Harbour, and I’ll also mix the new winter compilation on the label soon which includes a new track. I have many plans for the winter. A new remix for the amazing duo Groove Armada wlll be out in a few weeks, and I can’t wait for that! I also have a big surprise coming soon!! Don’t worry, something hot is always coming.

SCNDL: Gratifying Moments

Get ready America - Australian duo SCNDL have already kicked off their debut North American fall tour hitting cities across the United States and Canada! Hailing from Melbourne, Tom Grant and Adam Amuso count performing at WMC, holding down their 'WE R SCNDL' residency at Pacha Sydney, a signing to Ministry of Sound Australia's Hussle imprint, and several successful remixes including one of TJR & Vinai's "Bounce Generation" among their career highlights so far.

We chatted with the guys recently about their new single "Forever," playing in so many American cities for the first time ever, what they're experience has been like with their residency at Pacha Sydney, their studio setup, and what they have in store for the coming months.

Your new single “Forever” is out now on Ministry of Sound Australia’s Hussle imprint. How did you get started working with the label? Ministry was actually the first label we signed a deal with! Our manager now is also an A&R at Ministry and I'm sure he can vouch for how persistent and annoying we were with sending tunes. We wrote constantly and sent in music to a heap of different labels. Ministry was the first to give us a go and we've worked closely with them ever since!

You just kicked off a massive North American tour. Have you already been to all the cities you’ll be playing? This is actually our first time in America (not including WMC earlier in the year), so every city we're going to is something new and exciting!

Are there any cities/venues you’re particularly looking forward to along the way? Definitely can't wait for the last weekend of shows - we've heard so many awesome things about Avalon and Webster Hall!

You teamed up with Pacha Sydney this year for your “WE R SCNDL” residency at the club. What has your experience been like with that so far? What have been some highlights? Absolutely AMAZING! The team there has been so welcoming to us, and it's been unreal working with such a great crew! Being able to take ideas that we had (and never thought we would be able to exact on a production standpoint), and then see them in action is crazy! To be honest, we've made so many memories it'd be hard to choose a few. Every show we've had there has been incredible and has gotten better and better each time.

If you had to choose one, what would you say has been the most gratifying moment of your career so far? Probably getting on the plane to come to North America. The fact that we've been asked to come halfway around the world to play music that we made in our bedrooms is just unreal... There aren't many other words to describe it.

What are some of your favorite pieces of equipment in your studio? Is there anything on your wishlist at the moment?
We try to use as much software as possible because lugging heavy hardware around with us isn't fun! We're always buying new plug ins. There's new stuff going online all the time!

After the tour, what else do you have in store for this fall? A heap actually! We've got Korea, Fiji and an Australian tour when we get back, then it's festival season and summer in December and that's when it gets crazy for us in Oz!

The lineup includes a solid roster of house and techno names includingNick Curly, Nico Stojan, Rodriguez Jr (live),Sammy Dee, AdultnapperandMarc Poppcke, accompanied by a local roster which includes over 50 DJs, live and acoustic acts.

It's going to be a rather epic weekend of music and frollicking nekkid among the vineyards (if that's your bag), but there's also plenty more in store from the crew. Here are ten reasons not to miss S.A.S.H Sleepout this year.

1. The exclusive sets

It's your only chance to see Nick Curly, Nico Stojan, Rodriguez Jr, Francis Harris and Sammy Dee in NSW this year. It's also Marc Poppcke and Culoe De Song's Australian debuts and NSW exclusive.

2. S.A.S.H. can throw one hell of a party

A Sunday clubbing institution in Sydney are now throwing their first ever festival and have been working on the details for over a year. A 1500 person capacity from one of the best party crews in NSW = winner.

3. Fancy Dress

A chance to dress up as weird and wonderful as your imagination will take you. Saturday is the day!

4. Camping in the countryside

Camping with your best mates in the beautiful Hunter Valley on gorgeous grounds...what could be better? Camper vans are allowed via a reservation ticket and we hear they've enlisted the best shower/toilet facilities company available in the country. Nice!

5. Accoustic acts

An acoustic stage will be situated on the side of a hill for those more chilled moments over the weekend. Notable acts include Yuko Nishiyama and Sietta both making the trip up from Melbourne especially for the occasion.

6. Movies & Yoga

A movie theatre screening random delights while the stages are open, plus when things wind down you'll be able to relax on a bean bag and catch a full movie. And for those eager healthy beavers, Yoga will be taking place every morning at 9am.

7. The culinary delights

There will be a selection of tasty culinary options on hand including Sammy's Burger Bar (the ones from Bondi markets - they're the best!), wood fired pizzas, a fresh juice bar and an Asian outlet with steamed dumplings and all that yum yum stuff (pun intended).

8. Affordable drink prices

You can expect not to have to empty your savings account just to buy drinks. With super reasonable prices on all beverages, the Sleepout certainly won't hit your hip pocket.

9. Funktion 1 soundsystems

If you know S.A.S.H, you'll know they settle for nothing but the best when it comes to quality sound. Each stage is packed full of the big purple speakers, and we've been informed that the main stage will consist of no less than 24 F1 speakers. Cripes!

10. It's a secret...

S.A.S.H are keeping fairly tight lipped about their main stage and the props being delivered to the site, but what we do know is the main stage involves a S.A.S.H castle which they've given us a glimpse of (see above). Epic!
