The music of the late Donna Summer is to be celebrated and given some modern reworkings by the likes of Hot Chip, Frankie Knuckles, Chromeo, and of course Giorgio Moroder when a new remix album honouring the disco diva's career lands in October.
'Love to Love You Donna' will be officially released on October 22nd through Verve Records and will feature the 'Godfather Of House" Frankie Knuckles and Eric Kupper's reworking of 'Hot Stuff,' Hot Chip's take on 'Sunset People' from the 'Bad Girls' album, and Chromeo & Oliver's remix of 'Love Is In Control (Finger On the Trigger).'
The album will also include Giorgio Moroder's 2013 remix of the #1 hit he co-wrote with Summer back in 1976, 'Love To Love You Baby'. Moroder (who is currently sporting his trademark 70s moustache once again) premiered the remix for the very first time during his DJ set at the Way Out West festival in Gothenberg, Sweden, last week (see below video). The neo-disco cut has distinct, American EDM tinges at times, which is no suprise considering the fact that Moroder has been in the studio recently with young EDM guns like Avicii.
Throughout her career Summer raked up a total of 32 hit singles on the U.S. Hot 100, with 14 of those reaching the top 10, before she passed away in May 2012. Between 1976 and the end of 1982, she had more top 10 hits (12) than any other act.
