It’s Monday morning, you still hear that faint bassline and snare you fell in love with over the weekend ringing in your ears, feeling as if you’ve just run the comrades from dancing all weekend. Mondays - we bring you Fresh Monday Mixtapes - this time round we catch up with Kyle Maclean.
Kyle Maclean, Durban born, Cape Town based DJ and Producer is also one half of Riot Squad and CTRLroom. Since having moved to CT Kyle has been put on the bill of some big events and festivals around South Africa and for good reason.
Teaming up with Mike Kelly to form Riot Squad to create a duo new to the scene proved to be a good move. With a wide variety of music that the group covers from Drum & Bass, Electro, Dubstep and Glitch, the duo really have a unique sound that they’re punting and getting some well-deserved attention for it as well.
With tracks already signed to not only local labels but international record labels alike. Names like Loudroom Records (MEX), BlocBeatz Records (UK), LU10 Records (UK), NOIZE Records (GER), F! Records (SA) and On a Break Records (SA), their music is spreading around the globe on various platforms. The latest production work was recently teaming up with Pascal & Pearce to work on a collab on their new album and recently Remixing one of Twelve and Thesis new tracks. Both soon to be released.
With the focus now on making his solo alias successful he is working hard on his production and has already released his first 2 singles “Eclipse” and “long Street Hustle” which have been uploaded to his Soundcloud account and is for free download. A number of Singles and EP’s are under contruction.
Kyle’s sound is based more on DeepTech/Techno and Electronic. You can expect a lot from him in the future as it looks Kyle is ready to take on the music scene with full force.
