Melbourne (and Australian) clubbing institution Darkbeat is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year with a triple-mix CD from a selection of Australia's finest DJs; Anthony Pappa, Rollin Connection and Phil K.
One of Australia's finest (and first) DJ exports Anthony Pappa takes the reigns of disc one of 'Darkbeat 10th Anniversary Collection' with a surprisingly modern and funk-inflected house mix which has him sounding a far cry from his progressive tag. Disc two is looked after by Darkbeat founder Daniel Banko AKA Rollin Connection who takes things up a notch, and finally Melbourne star and mid-00s progressive house and breaks purveyor Phil K shows off his new sound with a slow, chugging after-hours mix.
As a club promotion and tour agency, Darkbeat has over the past decade toured and hosted the world’s most leading and sought after acts such as Sasha, Stanton Warriors, Sven Vath, Derrick Carter, Claude VonStoke and John 00 Fleming and many more. In more recent years the brand's association with national festival brands like Stereosonic and Summadayze has seen their profile skyrocket even further.
Having pumped this compilation at Pulse HQ in Sydney the past few weeks we can attest to the fact that 'Darkbeat 10th Anniversary Collection' is one of the mix compilations of the year. And that's not bullsh*t PR speak - that's a fact.
