There is a documentary that is coming out soon that takes on the task of explaining Europe's life on the dance floor, but it needs a little bit of crowdfunding before it can be released in theaters. Starring Cassy, the documentary "Meditations on the Dancefloor" directed by Berlin native Marietta Kesting, follows her throughout Europe. Berlin, Fabric in London, Club Rex in Paris, and DC10 and Amnesia in ibiza are a few places the documentary will touch upon, using Cassy's gigs at those locations to answer Marietta's questions of what makes our scene so irresistible, where does our constant attraction to the dance floor come from, and the encounters that arise from being in clubs.
This is clearly a professional and thoughtful attempt to document the electronic music scene as it has come to be today in Europe. There are a few older documentaries out there that show how the music took root and how it blossomed, but there isn't anything documenting its high point today as a widespread cultural phenomenon. Marietta has entailed one of the most highly respected DJs of our time to help tell that story. Landing residencies at Panorama Bar in Berlin, one of the most musically selective places in the world, and now at Output in Brooklyn, Cassy is the clear choice for this modern tale. We look forward to seeing the finished piece!
The crowd funding goal is $7,000 for post production, sound editing, and color correction costs. If you donate the following amounts, these are the prizes you will receive:
