After quite the amazing party on Canada Day with Sasha, Guy Gerber, and Audiofly, Toronto's Electric Island returns for a third installment this summer season. On Monday, August 5th, spend Canada's Civic Holiday on Centre Island with some soulful vibes provided by Green Velvet, Hot Since 82, and Soul Clap.
Presented by Platform, Embrace, and Footwork, Electric Island is not just a musical gathering, it's an escape from the city. Centre Island sports areas for attendees to picnic and relax, while enjoying the sunset view of the Toronto skyline. Don't feel like bringing food with you? P&L Catering has you covered, with a selection of whitefish tacos, Jamaican BBQ and a gourmet sausage station to satisfy your hunger while you're there.
Green Velvet (also known as Cajmere) headlines the musical programming for the day. Known for having a little tuft of neon green hair on his head, Green Velvet took on this alias to go in a different direction than his previous Cajmere moniker. It was under this name he made the track that he is most famous for, "Flash," which topped US dance charts in 1995. The track has been remixed countless times, and is constantly played by today's DJs. Joining him on the roster of talent is Hot Since 82, who has been released on Get Physical and Noir, rocking audiences everywhere with his upbeat and funky house vibes. Soul Clap rounds out the line up, with their unconventional approach to house music with an extremely funkalicious edge.
Way of Acting has created a video to the tune of James Zabiela's "The Healing," showing us how Canada Day went down for the last Electric Island. Check it out below.
Now that's a sight to behold!
