Russ Yallop; the creator of one of Pulse Radio's most popular and well received podcasts (#55), Hot Creations and Crosstown Rebels family member and all round legend catches up with Pulse to recap on the highlights of what was a busy 2012 and what he's got planned for us in 2013, just before he heads to Australia for Finely Tuned and then Mexico for BPM.
What were some of your event highlights for the year? Highlight of the year was the time I played before Jamie for PARADISE, at DC10 in Ibiza. Which in itself was another highlight, Paradise that is, every party was incredible.
What are the must go to events for you to be involved with, for career? and for enjoyment? I go to BPM, Miami, and SONAR every year as they all have the winning combo of sunshine and great parties. I was also part of ADE which was also really cool and a great opportunity to hang out with artists you respect but may not get a chance to hang out with that often.
What's been your biggest acheivement this year? In terms of tangible achievements this year was sparser than last year, however I had a much busier year gig wise and have put in a lot of work 'behind the scenes' which will take me artistically to where I want to be in the near future. But in terms of achievements you can write down I would say my remix of Jamie Jones'"Our Time In Liberty" is something I'll always be proud of, the opportunity and the response.
Is there anything you really wanted to do this year that came to fruition? I wanted to put out another solo ep but there wasn't quite enough hours in 2012 to make it happen.
Who has most impacted your life this year in a positive way? Hmm when I think of this year I think of Luca C and Ali Love actually, the Infinty Ink guys, as 2012 they were a firm part and a great new addition to the gang. I've known them for a while but this year we got to hang out loads and socially and musically they bring a lot to the table.
Is there anything you were introduced to or found this year that you wish you'd found earlier? Not really, I never look back.
