Konstruktiv's latest is proof once more that you really shouldn't judge a book by its cover.
So, in spite of some, how should we put this...'interesting' artwork, the package as a whole is a veritable delight of fascinating techno sounds that are really at odds with the space-aged, almost childish, Pokemon-esque drawings that accompany it.
It all arrives from the dab hand that is the label owner, Russian producer Rekord 61. Again, he plumps for two originals of his own as well as a remix by an admittedly better known producer - a way of working that continues to pay dividends.
Lead track 'Vostok' in an acid led monster, as it merges old-school capabilities with a dose of modern-day suspense. In all, it's sure to keep you enthralled throughout.
'Razbeg' is another tidy number. Nimble in stature, it soon comes to life courtesy of its relentless use of the 909, while the pronounced drums only add to the sumptuously produced modern-day techno for the heads.
On a remix tip, British ex-pat Spencer Parker remixes 'Vostok' into a slightly friendlier arrangement, as the generous chords give it a house aesthetic that fortunately doesn't bow to generic tech-house principles.
