The term 'everybody's a DJ' is reaching a whole new level. This past week alone we've discovered that ex-pro basketballer Shaquille O’Neal recently took the decks in Vegas and Hollywood actor Elijah Wood DJ'd at a Fantasy Con Convention. Who's next? Ex-pornstar Sasha Grey.
We've known about Grey's move into the electronic music world for some time now, though. Back in 2011 she quit the porn industry to focus all her energy on her band, the dark ambient and death-dub outfit aTelecine which had some degree of underground success playing Poland's Unsound festival in 2012 alongside the likes of Shackleton, Ben Frost, Kuedo and Cooly G.
Though it appears that Grey has left the experimental scene behind to focus on becoming a DJ after quitting the band in July last year. So what kind of music does an American ex-porn star-cum-DJ spin? EDM, naturally. Yep, Grey's most recent mix from March - a collab with another DJ called A-Cup - is full of high-voltage, big room electro tracks, though is titled a "Progressive Mix" (not sure about that one).
You can stream or download Sasha Grey's mix below. The burning question is: Are we going to start seeing this celebrity DJ on the professional circuit? Perhaps Paris Hilton could invite Sasha to play her upcoming Foam & Diamonds party in Ibiza. They could compare, ahem, techniques.
