Black Motion have been a force ever since they burst on to the South African scene. Having already conquered South African markets, the two have now turned their attention to the world with their latest release "African Salsa" on Ocha Records. Ocha, short for Orisha, means spirit or deity in the Yoruba religion. Like the name, there’s spirit and soul in the music of Ocha Records. The record label is owned by Carlos Mena (Casamena) and Osunlade, both Carlos and Osunlade felt a need to release music across many genres including house, but also hip-hop, soul, jazz & funk.
Ocha Records has released tracks and remixes by artists such as Ezel, Boddhi Satva, Abicah Soul Project, Charles Spencer, Atjazz, Nomumbah, Manoo, Osunlade, Carlos Mena and Bah Samba. They are supported by DJs and producers from all over the world. Currently Ocha is preparing to release Mzee’s album and DJ Mtshepang under the imprint Ocha Mzansi.
Black Motion's release on the imprint has been met with great success it has already sitting pretty on a number of charts across the world. Stellar releases like this can only help Black Motion’s visibility in the global scene. Ocha’s initiative to bring up more South African based artists affirms the quality and talent available in the local scene.
