Djebali
'Ideal Ghetto Touch / Juicy Street'
djebali

Parisian Djebali is all about the groove. The influence of the likes of French contemporaries such as Dan Ghenacia and Dyed Soundorom is always evident in this man’s productions, and this EP is no exception, as the Frenchman returns with another vinyl only release on his own imprint. An organic, back to basics approach runs throughout, as all the EP is exclusively produced with analogue gear and pressed straight to wax, ensuring all the subtle nuances that this approach brings remain uncompromised.

Since 2011, Djebali has been releasing his productions via his own label on limited runs of vinyl. Always deep, and possessing an effortless control of groove, Djebali is fast becoming an experienced practitioner in creating tools for the dance floor. “Ideal Ghetto Touch” is all about the heads down moments on the dance floor, locking you into the infectious groove that the bass-line creates, as the tight, skipping percussion holds the track together, and warm chords and synth lines add colour. This is certainly the kind of peak-time DC-10 terrace tool that would no doubt be at home in the middle of a set from the Apollonia crew.

On the flip, Djebali takes things deeper with blissed out house trip, “Juicy Street.” Here, the bubbling synths create a hypnotic atmosphere perfect for bringing the mood down with trippy organ inflections and utterances thrown into the mix. This one definitely conjures up thoughts and feelings of after party sunrises. Two cuts of perfect White Isle fare.
