In one of the more thought provoking pairings at this year’s IMS Engage, legendary film director David Lynch (“Mulholland Drive,” “Inland Empire” and “Blue Velvet”), and influential electronic artist Moby chatted quinoa and sperm, keeping the IMS Engage delegation on the edge of their seats from start to finish.
The two are no strangers to one another and share quite the history together (remixing each other, sampling music from “Twin Peaks”, and sharing similar interests in art). Moby came armed with a series of questions that veered away from music and instead towards God, death, maggots, painting and Transcendental Meditation (Surprising? Not really).
Some highlights from the conversation include Moby opening up about his upbringing and living in an abandoned factory, which spawned inspiration for his career. Lynch asked Moby his theory on life after death, to which Lynch’s response to Moby’s answer was, “That’s the worst theory I’ve ever heard.” Check out the full chat below!
