After the now infamous 1994 outlawing of free parties by John Major's Conservative government, Christian Morrison aims to overturn 20 years of intolerance.
The petition, which has received almost 30,000 signatures and is addressed to Home Secretary Theresa May, requests that rather than remain illegal, free parties should be regulated by a police presence, saying "We believe it would be in the interest of all involved to allow the control and regulation of said gatherings rather than merely confiscating thousands of pounds worth of equipment and falsely persecuting a majority of those involved."
It goes on to state that whether the authorities like it or not, free parties, and the rave scene in general, have not gone away despite two decades of illegality, and these parties continue to do no harm.
