With rumors circulating over the past week or two about a possible spinoff of Jay Z’s popular Made in America music festival set to take place in Los Angeles this year, it appears that it may actually be true despite some resistance from the locals. The festival originates in Philadelphia and last year’s edition alone featured the likes of Jay Z, Rick Ross, Passion Pit, Skrillex, Nine Inch Nails, and Beyoncé, among others.
According to Variety, the two-day festival will make the move to the West Coast at downtown Los Angeles’ Grand Park over Labor Day weekend. Jay Z is slated to join Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti and other local officials today for the official announcement that the festival will switch coasts this summer. Tens of thousands of fans are expected to attend.
Not everyone is supporting the festival’s move though. Apparently Los Angeles City Councilman Jose Huizar has introduced a motion asking the city to withhold permits for the festival until his questions about how the event will impact local businesses are answered.
