Bob Marley is a beloved figure for musicians and fans across almost every genre. His pioneering reggae sounds and powerful lyrics found an audience around the world. If he were alive today, February 6th, 2013, he would have turned 68.
Marley died of cancer in 1981 at the age of 36, after being an active musician for over 18 years. He spread both Reggae and the Rastafarian religion through his music. The posthumous album, 'Legend: The Best of Bob Marley and the Wailers," is credited as the best selling reggae album of all time - it sold 10 million copies in the United States and approximately 25 million worldwide.
Marley is survived by Ziggy and his 10 other children, Sharon, Cedella, Stephen, Robbie, Rohan, Karen, Stephanie, Julian, Ky-Mani and Damian. Several of these have continued Bob's legacy, most notably Ziggy and Damian.
