
Legendary Chicago house DJ Frankie Knuckles has passed away at age 59, reports 5 magazine.
The magazine reports that Knuckles was found dead at his house on March 31st. Fellow Chicago DJs David Morales and Deeon have confirmed the news on their facebook pages and NBC's local Chicago affiliate has also confirmed the death.
Knuckles was born in the Bronx in 1955 and became a disco DJ in the early 1970s, spinning with childhood friend and fellow house icon Larry Levan at the Continental Baths. In 1977, Knuckles moved to Chicago to become the resident DJ at the Warehouse, where he began spinning what would become known as house music.
