So, one last stop before The Burn, AfrikaBurn, but with The Bus of course. Let it be known that I tread-lightly, out of respect, when talking about AfrikaBurn as I admittedly have not been to one yet. I know that there is a particular ethos that The Burn is all about and gather that I may not fully understand it either. I don’t think you can fully-understand it unless you’ve been to one. However, in short, I think it’s safe to say that the jist of it is about sharing, and giving, positive vibes all round, something that the LEDHEDz (Creators of The Bus) are all about.
Burners I’m sure are well aware of The Bus and the blood, sweat and tears that went into it to get it to The Burn last year. I’ve been chatting to some of the guys about it, slowly fathoming the enormous amount of effort that goes into keeping this beast running, let alone making its way all the way out to Tankwa, where AfrikaBurn is held, and really, it’s all for the revellers, no-one else.
When talking about it, it doesn’t take long before you start gathering that this kind of project is rather heavy on the pocket, and when it’s non-profit, these sorts of endeavours at some stage of the game will require support.
The team behind The Bus invite you and ask that you not only bring yourself, but also all your Burner, and other curious lively friends to enjoy a cosmic experience of dancing energies, views and visuals under the stars. Afterlife will be responsible for mapping their projections onto The Bus by the way so this will be next level, believe me.
It is the perfect occasion to get acquainted with The Bus. I may not have made it to a Burn, yet, but I do know The Bus. Now is your chance. Trust me when I tell you, you don’t want to miss it in all its glory.
Also, in running up to The Burn, and the fundraiser coming up at the Ostrich Farm we all know so well, the team also have a special prize giveaway. Anyone who makes a donation of R100 or more on the LEDHEDz event Quicket purchasing page will be entered into a raffle for an AfrikaBurn ticket. The winner will be announced on Monday the 31st of March. Check out the event and full line-up below:

The LEDHEDz have done the balloon chain, last year they did The Bus, this year the guys are bringing out another guy, Robert Bose, who knows all about the Balloon chain (We’re looking at about 300m, here) that happens at Burning Man to get stuck in so to bring you both features, The Bus and the Balloon Chain, in Africa.
Jon Cline (LEDHEDZ) says: “The LEDHEDz are a collective of creatives, artists, builders and doers. We pool all of our resources and skills and try make things that will have an impact on those who get to experience it. We are most famous for our BUS but this year we are bringing the LED Balloon chain from Burning Man to AfrikaBurn. We encourage awareness wherever we go. We respect our surroundings and how we manage our waste. This is a strong message we want people to be aware of.
Party hard but party with a conscience and get involved wherever you can.”
The DJ’s play for free, The Bus doesn’t drive itself and petrol/diesel is our pet hate here in SA...we know this. But The Bus is there for everyone, and so, needs everyone to get involved, to come have a look, experience The Bus. You can decide whether you’re jumping ‘on-board’ or not. See you on The Bus…
