Only a week after deadmau5 released a new track called “Sunspot (White Space Conflict)” under his testpilot alias on Richie Hawtin’s Plus 8 label, the techno legend has finally uploaded the groundbreaking set he played b2b with the progressive house star during last year’s SXSW. When news broke about the gig, people were shocked at the unexpected pairing of artists whom you would never expect to see on the same lineup.
The two played together at Stubb’s BBQ in Austin Texas just over a year ago on March 12th, 2013, and until now, the only way to relive that night was through a collection of unsatisfying clips on YouTube. Check the whole set out below and let us know what you think.
The two also spoke together on a panel entitled "deadmau5 & Richie Hawtin: Talk. Techno. Technology" during which they discussed the role of technology in the music industry and the importance of social media in their respective careers. Is this the start of a new friendship?
