
While we can't necessarily see ourselves walking to the park with this, we're positive the ::vtol:: "anywhere," designed by Dmitry Morozov, could have some pretty cool real world applications. Imagine having several of these sprouted above the chill-out area of your favourite festival this summer, for example. Described as a "pseudo multichannel personal autonomous sound installation with 10 panning spots," the umbrella has 10 speakers, optical relays, and a micro SD WAV player. While it's tough to tell how good the audio quality is from the video, especially from inside of the large room the demonstration is filmed in, the directionality of the system probably means it would at least provide for an interesting experience if used properly.
