The 2014 Beatport Awards were announced on Friday, celebrating the year's biggest names in dance music.
The award categories were divided between Beatport editorial staff choices and fan favourites, and as per usual, the differences were stark. Beatport awarded their DJ of the year prize to Nina Kraviz, while track of the year went to Breach's banger 'Jack'. On the flipside, punters named Dimitri Vegas and Like Mike their number one, while also crediting the pair with track of the year for 'Mammoth'.
Much like last week's Oscars, a number of awards were foregone conclusions (case in point, Daft Punk winning Best-Selling Album). Nevertheless, a few surprises managed to sneak their way onto the bill. Australia's very own Flume (aka Harley Edward Streeten), took out the gong for Best New Artist, while Cajmere (formerly Green Velvet) won a lifetime acheivement award.
