Rio Music Conference united a once fragmented and dispersed electronic music market into what is now the largest gathering of electronic music and entertainment in the Southern Hemisphere. RMC has transformed into an essential entity in Latin American nightlife, producing shows and events throughout the year, with the label RMC Official Event. The conference lasts from February 19th until March 4th and is divided into two legs. There is the conference (seminars, workshops and business fair) from Feb. 19th – 21st in Hotel Pestana, and the festival from Feb. 22nd - Mar. 4th in Marina da Glória. 2014 also marks the first edition of Club Week Rio, in which dozens of nightclubs in the city offer discounts and advantages to the participants of RMC from Feb. 19th until March 4th.
As usual, there are a number of acts we are looking forward to this year as well as a DJ contest. RMC has joined forces with Mixcloud and Dance Paradise Radio in search of new Brazilian talent. Each week, three winners are chosen from the pool of 20-30-minute mixes participants have uploaded on Soundcloud. Those winners are awarded airtime on Dance Paradise FM and are placed in the finals. The team of professional judges will all vote on their favorite mix, which will establish the final winner. The winner will get to play during the closing night of RMC on March 4th and will receive four passes to the festival, among other prizes. Click here for full details.
The conference serves to discuss major and current issues facing the electronic dance music industry as well as future trends. Check out the event roster below:
