Grammy nominated DJ and producer Diplo will be playing at the official after party for Olmeca Tequila presents Mad Decent Block Party at Cape Town’s popular Fiction nightclub.
This Sunday, entrance to the after party is available only to those wearing a wristband from the block party and is being offered free of charge. Diplo, aka Wesley Pentz, is the lead producer of futuristic dancehall project Major Lazer, set to headline the first official Mad Decent Block party outside of North America this weekend in Joburg and Cape Town. Pentz is also the founder of the Mad Decent record label that is globally acclaimed for showcasing a myriad of sounds and consistently bridging the gap between mainstream and underground music.
Last year Diplo took the lead on producing Snoop Dogg’s “Reincarnation” album and has also collaborated with other world-renowned artists including everyone from Beyonce, No Doubt and Radiohead to Lil Wayne, Shakira and Pharell. In 2012 Diplo headlined a mind-blowing show at The Assembly nightclub in Cape Town, alongside local acts Sibot, Das Kapital and White Nite who will also be playing at the block parties this weekend.
The block party in Cape Town ends at 11:30 p.m. this Sunday. Supporting artists for the Fiction after party include P.H. Fat, Leechi, RVWR and Blotchy. Tickets to both Olmeca Tequila presents Mad Decent Block Party shows are available at www.webtickets.co.za for only R275 each.
