It's not the kind of message to DJs from club owners you'd expect to see in Vegas, but that's kind of the point. New club AFTER, which opened just this weekend gone, is attempting to break the mould of EDM-centric clubs in Sin City by setting out rules for DJs who play the club.
Entitled 'DJ Rules After 3am' and displayed in the club's DJ booth, the rules sternly prohibit hip-hop, trap and dubstep, as well as playing any tracks by David Guetta, Hardwell, Tiesto or Avicii. The club also has no time for "lazy ass" digital DJs who mix internally on Serato, use Ableton without an external controller or play a pre-mixed set.
It's certainly a surprise to see amongst the crowded Vegas market of mainstream DJs playing superclubs, and light at the end of the tunnel for clubbers seeking a more underground styled night out in Vegas. Even Sasha approves. Bravo.
