There's big trouble brewing at Mexico's BPM Festival at the moment, with UK DJ and producer Darius Syrossiantaking to his facebook just hours ago to claim that he was verbally and physically assaulted by festival staff and then kicked out of his own party.
Syrossian was playing alongside the likes of Steve Lawler, Matthias Tanzmann and Steve Bug at the Viva Warriors Showcase at Coco Maya Beach Club in Playa Del Carmen on Tuesday night, where he alleges he was beaten up by "thugs" and had his life threatened after he complained that his guestlist names weren’t being let in.
"Half way through my set i went to the door and said guys why are you not letting my guestlist in?" Syrossian claims on one of several facebook posts.
"They said who the hell are you, go away, i said i am playing the music right now! FOR YOUR PARTY! Then with 20 mins of the night to go, thw even OWNER CRAIG PEDIGREW camme to the decks, with a few of his huge security and set them onto me...i literally got jumped on, i was punched, thrown down the back of the booth and lets just say it wasnt pleasent! then i was dragged out through the crowd!! and told you are not gonna leave mexico, your dead, and we will make it look like an accident!! [sic]"
As always, there appears to be two sides to the story, with Managing Partner of Exodus Festival Las Vegas, Andrew Christoforou, writing, “You guys want to hear the real story… Here it is since I was managing the show on behalf of BPM. Darius, you submitted a guest list, had it at the door and a few names somehow were left off… In a professional world you could have spoken politely to the guest list girl to resolve the missing names… But you decided to be completely unprofessional and verbally insulted her in public sending her to tears. She actually left work because she was so upset as to how you spoke to her…
“Near the end of the night, Craig Pettigrew, the festival’s founder simply wanted to talk to you about it professionally. But you chose once again to tell him to fuck off. So that was it for you my friend. We got security to ask you to leave and you refused. One of security grabbed you and you resisted… So we grabbed your gear instead as it was the only way to get you out… Your story is very short on details as is your temper that got you into this mess. [sic].”
We have contacted Darius Syrossian for an official comment on the matter, though have been advised by a friend that he is currently in the midst of organising flights out of Mexico.
