German DJ and producer and boss of Systematic Recordings, Marc Romboy, is auctioning off his signed Roland TR-303 to raise money for Björn Schulz Stiftung, a children’s hospice in Berlin. The hospice specialises in caring children with cancer and other serious illnesses, as well as offering support to their families. More details and a link to bid for the item on Ebay can be found below.
As you can see by the photo, the 303 has been signed by several DJs, including Seth Troxler, Nick Curly, Chris Liebing, Carl Craig and Dubfire, which Marc started collecting when he decided to auction off the machine. In a statement from Marc Romboy, he said:
"As you might assume correctly, this 303 still means a lot to me. I have used it already for more than two decades to make great tracks like Microwave Prince's ‘Cyclic evolution’ and my collabos with Blake Baxter called ‘Freakin’ and Tyree Cooper ‘Lost’ were produced with exactly this machine. A couple of months ago I bought a second 303 in Australia and realised that I wouldn’t need two, so the idea to give something back came up and I began collecting autographs. So now you can find it on Ebay and the entire incoming auction money goes straight to the Björn Schulz Stiftung in Berlin. This organization supports hospices for children who have serious diseases like cancer for example. The most important thing is that this organization will receive a high amount of money for its activities and all of you can help the kids by simply telling people about this auction."
Bidding on the item is now live at http://www.ebay.com/itm/-/301041560942 and finishes on December 22.
