Possibly one of the most recognised events in the global dance music calander, the concept behind Red Bull Music Academy's Revolutions In Sound is simple; take over the London Eye, invite some of the worlds coolest underground labels, parties and brands and give them a pod each, invite a select audience for each pod and then supply them with alcohol. What could possibly go wrong?
'Unlike anything you've seen before' is probably the only way to describe the event. While waiting for your designated pod to come round, the atmosphere on the ground was a mixture of queing in a fairground to sitting for an exam to those moments just before entering your favourite club. What truly piqued the excitement, however, was the universality of it, wrapping the DJs, their entourage, the public, even the staff, with a warm buzz on a cold night. This is one event that won't be forgotten easily (even with the ridiculous amount of alcohol sweetented redbull that was drunkon the night).
While the concept was simple, the amount of work involved, and sheer logistical nightmare that would have been organising Revolutions a reality was well hidden, as everything ran with a precision often left to the army. From arriving and being collected by the pod marshall (Red Bull brand managers from Leeds) to getting on the pod with a mere minutes window or being served vodka infused redbull, everything was seemless.
