The SXSW music industry conference has confirmed a strong Australian contingent for it's 2013 edition, with a final list of 40 artists set to fly the flag for Australia over in Austin, Texas from March 12th – 17th. The electronic names on the list include Sydney hero Flume (who has just signed with US label Mom + Pop and recorded a mix for NYC's The Fader - listen below), Brisbane indie-disco outfit Mitzi and Melbourne electro-house duo making big waves overseas, Feenixpawl.
Running since 1987, the conference has become one of the world's most respected music industry events, providing an important platform to break acts into the US market. On March 16th, Sounds Australia will host the annual Aussie BBQ (now in its 10th year), which will see a huge contingent of Australian acts playing on a variety of stages at the Maggie Mays venue on 6th street and naturally providing snags and drinks.
