Kompakt - the distributor, record label and shop hailing from Cologne - celebrate their 20th anniversary in 2013. The label - ran by Michal Mayer and Wolfgang Voigt - have come along way since their beginnings as a record store. They're no established as one of the most forward thinking imprints in the world, responsible for releases from the likes of Michael himself, Robag Whrume, WhoMadeWho and much more.
Throughout the year, Kompakt shall celebrate their milestone birthday, a period that's seen them publish nearly 500 releases. Planning to take the label across Europe stopping at major cities, aside from special 'jubilee releases' and a touring pop-up record shop (emulating their iconic Gladbacher Straße 36 store) to spend your pennies in. Geneva, Amsterdam, Paris, London and Berlin are on the cards so far, with more special events to be announced in due course. They've also delved into the archives to produce an exclusive documentary and an extensive fanzine for release sometime this year too.
Meanwhile, Voigt & Voigt are due to release an album in Feburary, ith more slated releases to come from The Field, Gui Boratto, Coma and more. Check the above YouTube video for a taster of the forthcoming debut album.
