Its official, Rocking the Daisies 2013 is SOLD OUT. We’ve been watching the line-up releases for a while now particularly focused on the Mainstay Beach Bar, and now, the imminent arrival of that dreaded sign that says ‘SOLD OUT’ has arrived.

Rocking the Daisies said “If you haven't got your tickets, unlucky for you. If you have, we will see you for a rocking weekend on the 3rd October!”

Rocking the Daisies have also stressed the fact that fraudulent tickets will not be able to gain access to this year’s epic edition of Rocking the Daisies 2013 so please don't try!! Other than that, if you're organised and readying to go with less than 30 days left before things get really tropical in Darling - you'll see us on the dancefloor Streaming LIVE and covering the tropicalities this year from the Mainstay Beach Bar to some of the artists playing the Red Bull tent.

Listen to The Skene Brother's set from the Beach Bar last year that killed it:

See you there!

Video: Australia's Most Embarrassing Party Girls

0
0

Welcome to the most cringeworthy video you're likely to witness all week where a bunch of self-confessed Adelaide party girls display to the general public just how vacuous and bordering on retarded they are. For these bimbos, VIP clubbing, working out and spray tans are a way of life. It's not who you know, it's who you blow.

Perhaps we're being too hard on the girls, as the guys in this video definitely give brain-damaged a run for its money, too. International clubbers please take note: This shameful 'report' on Australian current affairs television program Today Tonight is in no way indicative of real clubbing in this country. Just saying.

Watch Wu-Tang's Ol' Dirty Bastard perform as a Hologram

0

Yesterday we brought you the news of more deceased rappers being summoned from the other side for two performances at Rock The Bells festival in the US.

After showing you Eazy E's cameo with Bone Thugs N Harmony yesterday, video footage has finally been released of the Wu-Tang's headline set from the Sunday night of the festival, featuring ex member Ol' Dirty Bastard joining them in holographic form and spitting his verses on legendary tracks such as Shame On A N***a, Shimmy Shimmy Ya and more. Whereas the holographic effects went down a storm, the Wu's performance didnt quite hit the mark, which was reportedly blighted by poor sound quality.

ODB's summoning did, of course, follow on from Eazy-E's appearance the previous night, of which you can familiarise yourself with above.

Derrick May & Technasia Smash We Love... At Space Ibiza

0
0

A few weeks back, we broke down We Love…’s September madness in order to give everyone a closer look at one of the biggest closing months of any party around. Now, each week this month we get the chance to bring that print to life, and come to life it did. It was another absolutely stellar Sunday this week, proving once again why the institution remains at the top of their game year after year.

Early on, longtime We Love… resident and favorite Jem Haynes, who recently released his first compilation, Colour Series Vol. 1, warmed things up nicely in the Discoteca. Haynes came out in full force, dropping dark little numbers like his remix of Sam Chorlton’s ‘Dusavik,’ heading to funkier territory with tracks like the Small Town Collective remix of he and Mike Peters’ ‘Dark Days.’ And in true Haynes style, the Colour Series boss headed over to groovier space with tracks like Samu.l’s ‘Have It Like That,’ keeping the early doors eager and happy.

Though it wouldn’t be We Love… without some of their trademark cozy room funk, now would it? Over in the Sunset Terrace, presented by Mr. Doris’ After Dark, was Norman Jay, who laid down the coolest of grooves to a well up for it and packed room, with timeless hits like Aretha Franklin’s 1968 classic ‘Think,’ the entire room erupting as the anthem hit its chorus, all belting out ‘Freedom!’ in unison, Mr. Doris himself singing right along. Shivers were down everyone’s spine. As nice as it was, Technasia’s rough and ready techno and tech house was beckoning from right next door. It was time to get our sweat on, but not before taking one last moment to soak it all in, because let’s face it – where else in the world can you go straight from soul classics to big room techno in seconds? This is what it’s all about.

Even though I was somewhat reticent to leave the comfort of the Sunset Terrace, it only took me but a moment to get right into the vibe, as the electricity in the Discoteca pulled me in quickly. I’d heard from a few mates before being able to get a listen for myself that Technasia was ripping it to shreds, but in this game, a first hand experience is always necessary before passing judgment. They were spot on. The French DJ and producer had the massive Discoteca crowd in the palm of his hand, and he knew it. Unleashing bomb after bomb, the Sino records boss simply wouldn’t stop, crushing us over and over with snappy hip shakers like ‘Ue Suala’ by Gel Abril, keeping every happy clubber moving right along with the DJ himself, Technasia dancing like he was having the time of his life – and for good reason.

Steering clear of some of the more elaborate effects that other parties at Space bring, We Love… kept the focus squarely where it should be on Sunday night – the music – and it paid off in full, as the crowd was one of the most friendly and positive I’ve seen all season. Technasia continued with bangers like ‘The Underground’ by Celeda, its lyrics reminding everyone just how good this really is. Not to be outdone, over in the Main Terrace, Detroit legend Derrick May was laying it down fast and proper. So after a quick break to cool off, we caught up with the master in action.

Derrick took over in the Main Terrace after fellow Detroit native and partner in crime on the latest We Love… compilation, ‘We Love… Detroit’, Jimmy Edgar, who began with a Paul Ritch style builder before keeping things close to the sleeve, unleashing torrents of unreleased material on the willing We Love… crowd. Edgar cut loose with nothing but his trademark bass driven techno, and one can only hope he’ll be more of a fixture next season.

May kept things rolling along perfectly with dark, warehouse ready synth driven bombs like ‘I Know Where Your Mind Is’ by Federico Gandin, heading to more upbeat territory with ‘Vital Sound’ by Jovonn. From there, May expertly cut to grooves like ‘Night Long’ by London FM & Irregular Synth, keeping the tempo high and the beats sweet. I’ll admit, living in Ibiza, one can feel spoiled, and perhaps jaded from time to time. But this is why when presented with the opportunity to see someone like Derrick May step up to the decks, the island heads are always out in full force. To watch May work is nothing but a pleasure, but to hear him steer things, well, wherever he wants to, with the greatest of ease, is something to be relished in full, and the crowd couldn’t have been happier to follow along. Not wanting to miss the return of former We Love… resident Claude VonStroke, we made our way back into the Discoteca to get deep into the bass.

The dirtybird boss picked up right where Technasia left off, starting his set with a much more tribal feel than normal, keeping the tech house groove alive with shakers like ‘Change It’ by Fisher & Fiebak, though he wouldn’t stay there for long. Jacking the energy right up, Claude moved to heavy hitters like Jimmy Edgar’s massive tune, ‘Strike,’ which has been getting proper rotation this season by every jock worth his salt, setting the San Francisco native up perfectly for his eventual transition into heavier territory with tracks like Doorly’s Club Mix of ’Jack Ya Body’ by Steve Silk Hurley, unleashing VonStroke to bring the bass hard and big for the rest of the night. Dirtybird was in the house!

Another smashing session from We Love…, no doubt. I, for one, will be counting the days until next Sunday. And if you’re lucky enough to be island bound, do yourself a favor and grab tickets below to next week’s fiesta, featuring an extra special performance, as Heidi is now playing a one-off back-to-back set with Scuba on the terrace, along with sets by Steve Bug, Duke Dumont, Kevin Saunderson, James Zabiela, Simian Mobile Disco, Boddika, Special Request Live and many more!

Intergalatic dance ensemble Chrome Hoof launch their new album Chrome Black Gold in October, with two chances to see the band in full force in London on the 4th & 5th October at London's The Lexington. BUY CHROME BLACK GOLD TICKETS

The Hoof are set to explode into our atmosphere once again as they bring their boldest, loudest and most experimental album yet. After rumoured to have vanished off the face of planet earth, they were merely burrowing away and working on new music (or as an official transmission states, "The Ungulate is ready to emerge from the self-imposed hibernation cube and proclaim its right to exist!").

BUY CHROME BLACK GOLD TICKETS

The new album sees founder Leo Smee bringing in a raft of new members and special guests, including Shinghai of The Noisettes, Alex Thomas (live drummer for Air & Squarepusher) and long term vocalist Chantelle Brown.

Their sound crosses boundaries of jazz structure, prog rock, operatic performance and electronic production. Reportedly taking them 18 months to record their 3rd album, it follows on from previous LPs Crush Depth and Pre-Emptive False Rapture and their highly praised, visually arresting live show, which saw them culminate with a 21 piece version for London's Barbican art centre.

You can be a part of the latest chapter of this travelling space choir's gospel and check them live at London's The Lexington on the 4th & 5th October featuring special gusts S&M, Gum Takes Tooth and DJ Gerry Rooney. Also check above for a BBC Introducing live session, performing track 'Moss Covered Obelisk' at Maida Vale to give you a further taster of their prog-infused space dust.

Full tracklisting for the album is below, plus a link to buy exclusive tickets for the launch parties, and stay tuned for more exclusive goodness from Chrome Hoof coming up on Pulse.

P Diddy does Burning Man with Pink Umbrella, exclaims "Ill Never Be The Same"

0

Burning Man sees its fair share of celebrities come to 'find themselves' but no one expected multi-millionaire hip-hop entrepreneur Puff Daddy to attend - especially donning a bright pink umbrella.

The Bad Boy Productions CEO was spotted hanging out at the festival, keeping shade under a pink parasol and donning a pink scarf and multi-coloured wrap around shades - a far cry from usual playboy get-up of expensive suits and 24-carat gold jewelry. Puff was said to be in high spirits, hitting the Robot Heart tent nice and early to catch a glimpse of the world's 'hottest' DJs (no pun intended).

After the festival, Sean 'Puffy' Combs tweeted an image of himself wearing a sailor's hat and a 'mysterious' glove, whilst also tweeting a simple yet effective statement:

Words cannot explain! I'll never be the same. Do u see the glove?

Reminds us of someone else who dons a mysterious glove...

Dark Days: Colour Series Boss Jem Haynes’ Exclusive Music Video Sneak Peak

0
0

We’ve all had them. We’re headed out to see our favorite DJ with our best mates, and no matter how hard we try, a black cloud ominously hangs overhead, dark times creeping up on us, ruining our night with surgical precision.

Colour Series boss and We Love… resident Jem Haynes’ new animated video hilariously recreates the story of every clubber’s worst nightmare with his new ‘Dark Days’video, boasting characters perfectly pieced together from every night out you’ve ever had.

It’s an incredibly unique take on the electronic music video, and a breath of fresh air. Let’s face it - videos are tough, and most fail to capture any sort of real feeling, unless highly suggestive lyrics are in place to help anchor a storyline down.

But that’s what makes Jem Haynes’ new video so impressive, and funny as hell. Featuring a wonderful new tune from the Colourseries boss, who recently released his first compilation, Colourseries Volume 1, the video cruises right along with his new ‘Dark Days’ track, which he recently released with Mike Peters.

Watch our interview with the Colour Series boss below and get all the inside info on just how the video was made:

Spotify Operates at a Staggering Loss, Asks for Additional Investment

0
0

Spotify, the on demand streaming service which is no stranger to making headlines in the news, is now looking for additional cash from investors. Although the company has been valued at figures over $3 billion, many financial analysts are skeptical of this number and are concerned that the company is not operating in a way that will allow it to continue in the long run.

According to Swedish newspsper Dagens Industi, Spotify is looking for a significant investment that would increase the value of the company to over $5.3 billion, representing a 75% increase in the company’s value in just ten months. But is it sustainable? Spotify has been spending a large amount of cash at an alarming rate and as a result has been operating at an increasing loss for the last three years.

Source: Digital Music News

Apparently, Spotify has only received $288 million in financing since it’s inception in 2008. However, the company stated in 2012 that it has already burned through $206 of that amount which makes us wonder if the company will be around for awhile. Spotify also has the option of applying for a straight loan – the kind you pay back with interest instead of giving ownership to shareholders. The Swedish newspaper stated, “Spotify’s two founders, CEO Daniel Ek and Martin Lorenzon, don’t want their holdings diluted . . . Instead they are inclined to borrow money in order to continue to grow at a rapid pace.”

It was since their album Deep Cuts that was released back in 2003 that they started to get a promising international response. What was interesting about The Knife was that they weren’t particularly keen on working with the media, well at least not until 2006 when they started to perform live concerts.

You’ll also notice that most press pics and features done on the duo they’ll be donning bird-beaked masks maintaining a certain level of mystery that seems to work really well with their sound. One could almost go as far to say that the ominous sound and haunting vocals that you find in ‘Colouring of Pigeons’ promotes this urge to hide behind a mask and get somewhat ominous yourself. April this year was their latest release dubbed ‘Shaking the Habitual’ since seven years ago when they put out ‘Silent Shout’.

Ahead of Saints Don't Sleep's birthday show on Friday 14th, Perugia's own Nicholas has put together this exclusive mix in association with Pulse. GET TICKETS TO SEE NICHOLAS HERE

SDS was initially founded in 2011. After two successful parties in which they recruited blossoming acts such as Dark Sky, Pariah, XXXY and Synkro, personal arrangements forced an extended hiatus before picking up where they left off in September 2012. The crew recently talked us through their hightlights in Ten Tale Telling Tracks, which you can familiarise yourself with here.

Casting all superstitions aside, the Saints will be celebrating their one year anniversary at South London stronghold Brixton Jamm, recruiting a very tasty lineup with which to do so as Nicholas returns for another Saints Don't Sleep party. Featuring the likes of Holland's finest, Homework, Nixwax'Rob Amboule as well as two secret guests joining the breakthrough Italian, you'd better believe this is a night not to be missed. Dreams Do Come True: Flo Rida Unleashes Beamz

When the words "Shipping and Handling" are involved in the pitch for any new musical product you know it's time to run for the hills.

If you were upset with Flo Rida for backing out of a contractual obligation to play at Australia's "Fat As Butter" festival or using the key components of many of electronic music's hits like Avicii's "Levels," Infinity Ink's "Infinity," or Bingo Players'"Cry" to create his own derivative works, all will surely be now be forgiven. Why you ask? Because Flo was using the time not spent creating his own original work to team up with the creators of a 3-year-old product to rerelease it. It's a shameless attempt to capitalize on the vacuous quest for fame America is now witnessing as EDM continues its march towards dominance in pop culture.

<br>

Beamz is essentially a Toys R Us caliber descendant of the Laser Harp that allows anyone with limbs (or a breathing straw) to flail about and trigger prerecorded samples and "be a star" of their next "party or family gathering." Because who doesn't want to go Back2Back with Grandma after Thanksgiving Football wraps up this year?

Beamz is magical though, there's simply no denying it. If you look at the time lapse photos below you'll see that It converts geeky scientists (or chefs?) into cool sleeveless bros magically.

Although the website proclaims "There's no "wrong" way to play Beamz. It's setup for everyone to have fun making music, regardless of experience with traditional instruments," we would counter that's exactly the problem.

Beamz is a hit at nursing homes too! Check out this five-star review on Amazon entitled "Range and Motion:"

Beamz lets you play along with the usual suspects like Rock, Pop, EDM and Hip-Hop but what you might not have seen coming (but Flo did) was the ability to skillessly create and perform Classical, Country and "any kind of music that moves you." The software includes several songs that we've listed below. The Grammy's might have been exciting but you know Adele is really going to be "Rolling In The Deep" once the royalty checks start rolling in from "Beamz Inc."

Clocks-Jam - Coldplay
Country Girl (Shake It For Me)-Jam - Luke Bryan
