Give this man a gold watch! If anyone in the industry deserves it, it has to be Ryan Dent with the amount of musical accolades he has achieved with his contribution to the industry as we know it for almost twenty years now.
Joburg based DJ, producer and song-writer known as ‘The Dentist’ has been taking South Africa to the world earning his place as one of the most influential musicians and finest exports we have to date. Now with the party scene taking a rather definitive turn in the sense of how the dancefloor frequenters approach it, whether it be ‘season’ or not, we can’t help but wonder if South Africa isn’t catapulting itself into a 364 day party because let’s be honest, Winter so far has been somewhat tropical in that regard.
Pulse thought no-one more fitting to ask about this and got an exclusive mix dubbed ‘Tekno Prisoners Vol. 2’ to slam into your eardrums whilst engaging with this bit of humour we take rather seriously from The Dentist.
The Dentist:
"Some say that people in Johannesburg don’t like the cold. Well that’s a load of rubbish. It seems a good portion of party’s this winter were outdoors. It’s difficult to understand the logic but when it comes to beats, people will forget about the fact its naught degrees outside and shake a leg till the savage hours of the morning….just a couple of beauts enjoying the cold in 2 piece tracksuits.
The Dentist continued:
Could it be the style of dance that keeps the lads warm? Not sure what style it is but a derivative of fidgit no doubt. Whatever it is we must commend the speed at which these biscuits move their legs…make the circle bigger I say.
Perhaps we can attribute this jozi phenomenon to the warmth of deep house that has been throbbing in our ears over the past year…slower, better and with more effect. 123 beauts per minute is the preferred tempo for those that understand.
More beauts, faster biscuits and deeper beats.
Let’s hope this trend continues."
