Listen to this Insane 1986 mixtape from Kurt Cobain

A full year before practically anyone knew who Nirvana were, deceased frontman Kirk Cobain created a monster of a different kind.

While him and his band would become mega-stars in the rock world and beyond, his 36-minute cut and copy mixtape, 'Montage of Heck Mix',  would remained unsurfaced, until now. Coinciding with the 20th anniversary of Cobain's death, 'Montage of Heck' is a hellish trip through sound: there's plenty of toilet flushing, vomiting, warped bleeps and slow motion music and vocals.

Warning: this is about as weird as it gets.

The man went to help a friend whose car was being targeted by thieves when he was attacked. Officers believe a weapon was used and the victim is now recovering at home as police investigate.

Det Con David Berry, from Greater Manchester Police, said:

“This assault caused significant injury to the victim, leaving him requiring hospital treatment and cosmetic surgery to his face. Such was the force of the blows and the damage caused, officers believe that the offenders used a weapon. The Simpsons Get High At Burning Man

Just when you thought Burning Man couldn't possibly enter any further into mainstream consciousness, this happens! An upcoming episode of the long running cartoon comedy The Simpsons will feature the family heading to Black Rock City to, erm, free their minds?

The episode, aptly titled 'Blazed And Confused', guest stars Hollywood actor Willem Dafoe as a Scarface-like teacher who preys on Bart, and features real-life Burning Man art cars Dusty Rhino and El Pulpo Mecanico.

Simpsonswiki.com describes the episodes plot as so: "Bart faces a tough test at school when he gets a new teacher, Mr. Lassen (guest voice Willem Dafoe), who vows to crush his spirit."

The episode airs in the US this Sunday November 16 on FOX. Judging from the below images, it looks like Marge gets off her head!

Dubfire Announces 2014 Australian Tour

Techno titan Dubfire will return to Australia for three dates this coming December.

On the 19th December Dubfire will play at Melbourne’s Brown Alley for a joint venture between Novel and Tomorrow Never Comes, after which he flies up to Sydney on the 20th to headline the new CODE night at The Greenwood Hotel. The last date will see Dubfire play at Capulet Bar in Brisbane for the Lemon and Lime crew.

In a surprise turnaround earlier this year, it was announced that Dubfire and Sharam would reunite Deep Dish after many years apart - much to the concern of Dubfire’s techno fans around the world. However, this reunion doesn’t seem to have affected Dubfire’s techno output at all, with his solo career seemingly still a major focus for him, and his SCI-TEC label stronger than ever and still turning out club bombs with every release. There is no doubt that Dubfire is one of the top headline DJs in the world, and he has a sound that is uniquely his own, a musical identity that Dubfire is very aware of: “I try to apply a punk ethic to my own music...it has to be groundbreaking, futuristic, unique, and organic.”

Last seen in Australia as part of the Future Music Festival run, do not miss out on this opportunity to see a true festival headliner in an intimate club environment.

Dubfire 2014 Australian Tour Dates
19.12.14 - Tomorrow Never Comes @ Brown Alley, Melbourne
20.12.14 - T1000 pres. Code @ Greenwood Hotel, Sydney [BUY TICKETS]
21.12.14 - Lemon & Lime @ Capulet Bar, Brisbane

WATCH: The DJ who doesn’t use equipment

If DJ Castro isn't famous now, he will be very soon. This young musician from Mozambique has just released a video of a performance which uses nothing except the human instrument and a plastic bottle. It is simply breathtaking.

Appearing on a talk show to perform, DJ Castro raps, sings and taps his way into a frenzy with more than as much energy as any electronically-generated house banger can produce. With his spot-on-time and electric-fast rhythm section, and a voice confidently hitting the top notes of Dennis Ferrer’s ‘Hey Hey’, he brings back the genuine live power that many feel is missing from electronic music performance culture.

His 11 minute set also includes a cover of Mi Casa’s hit ‘Jika’, to the delight of fans of the group who span both South Africa and the African continent.

Without a solid online platform, Castro has probably not yet experienced the kind of exposure and opportunities he deserves. We expect that’ll all change very quickly and we are excited to see what comes next from this bright young star.

This New Redfoo & Lil Jon Song Could be The Worst Track Of 2014

$

0

If someone was to take all the worst and most clichéd sounds, phrases and images of 2014 pop culture and mash them together with a huge helping of misogyny, Redfoo and Lil Jon's new video is exactly what you'd wind up with.

Appropriately called "Literally I Can't" (we can't either), the song tells the tale of a stuck up white girl who, because she won't agree to take shots, do "girl on girl," or go to an after party with the only guy still wearing Kanye glasses, should "shut the fuck up." After all, Grammy nominee Redfoo is only after one thing, and it's not an "an annoying slut, because you're talking." Come on, white girl, he's only "sipping on this drink, trying to see what you got, not hear what you think." The nerve.

Unfortunately Party Rock Records has disabled embedding for the official video by request, but you can listen to the track below. For the full video in all its glory, click here

The official Spring Fiesta2015 After-Movie has landed!

Spring 2014 in the Southern Hemisphere heralded the return of Ekurhuleni’s flagship summer celebration to the Wild Waters Complex in Boksburg. The brainchild of local label powerhouse Soul Candi Records, Spring Fiesta once again assembled an unprecedented international and local line-up for its fourth consecutive installment which took place this past September.

Soul Candi director and organiser, Ricardo da Costa expressed his delight and gratitude about this year's event.

"Spring Fiesta 2014 totally exceeded our expectations by selling out the 15 000 capacity by the Thursday prior to the event. It showed me that Spring Fiesta has evolved from just another festival into our dance culture's national holiday.

Each year we strive to improve the experience by introducing new elements into the program. This year we had six stages with one dedicated solely to upcoming talent called "Generation Next" as well as "Soul Candi Engage" workshops in different townships around Ekurhuleni positioned as a means for skills transfer about music production, DJ 101 and 102 seminars and mentorship programs.

I would like to thank everyone who attended the workshops as well as Spring Fiesta for being part of our ongoing story."

The footage includes shot outs and brief interviews with everyone who’s anyone in the local music scene including Cuebur, Andyboi, DJ Fresh, Just Mo, Khuli Chana and many more.

Stand out moments for us? The visuals kicking off the start of Shimza’s set on the main stage and the off-stage reaction from the Black Motion crew captured directly after their debut performance at Spring Fiesta 2014.

WATCH! And relive the unforgettable memories created at Spring Fiesta this past September.

Soundcloud Marks the 25th Anniversary of the Fall of Berlin Wall

This month marks the 25th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall. And Berlin-based Soundcloud has paid tribute to those who lost their lives trying to cross the wall with an experimental track form Berliner Mauer called "The Berlin Wall of Sound".

The wall stood from 1961 to 1989, and 120 people died in that time trying to cross it. Berliner Mauer's song features haunting speeches from former leaders of the German Democratic Republic, as well as quotes from American president Ronal Reagan's famous speech.

"The Berlin Wall of Sound is an acoustic reconstruction of the Berlin Wall. Its duration of 7:32 minutes reflects the time sound needs to travel the 155 kilometres length of the Berlin Wall. Its sound wave’s shape mirrors the wall of concrete and its watchtowers. There are no comments – the tags depict the victims and mark where they were killed."
